Arrest order out for Monoprix Supermarket Manager for alleged power theft

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-An arrest order has been issued for the Manager of the Monoprix Supermarket, Mackie Gharib, for alleged power theft in the tune of over six-hundred-thousand United States Dollars.

Judge Jomah Jallah of the Monrovia City Court instructed the police on May 12, 2021, to apprehend the manager

for prosecution for power theft and economic sabotage.

Judge Jallah order was based on a complaint filed by the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), accusing Monoprix Manager of said act in 2017.

The LEC claimed that the management illegally connected the Supermarket to the national power grid, without the knowledge of the LEC.

It said the action of Monoprix has denied and deprived the entity of needed revenue to support its operations.
