Government to Establish a Database to Enhance Support to local Farmers

The Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, is expected to collect a database of farmers involved in the production of rice, rubber, and cocoa.

The government said the database will inform its decision and support to farmers as part of an effort to develop the Agriculture sector.

President George Weah made the disclosure Friday at the launch of the National Agriculture Fair taking place in CARI, Bong County.

President Weah said a Technical Committee including the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Finance, and the Environmental Protection Agency among others will work with commercial Banks for the disbursement of funds to empower local farmers.

Meanwhile, several farmers at the Agriculture fair have welcomed Government’s quest to empower them and boost productivity.
