Pres. Weah recommits to fighting Corruption

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has reiterated his commitment to fight corruption to meet the growing hopes and aspirations of the Liberian, for socioeconomic transformation.

The Liberian Leader gave the assurance over the weekend, when integrity institutions in the Country presented him the final report derived from the National Anti-Corruption held recently.

The resolution contains recommendations, strategies and methods to combat corruption in the public sector.

The Chief Executive noted that it would require working with other branches of Government, in reforming the laws of Liberia towards achieving the task of battling corruption and graft.

President Weah challenged the integrity institutions, including Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), Governance Commission (GC), Financial Intelligent Unit (FIU), General Auditing Commission (GAC), Internal Auditing Agency (IAA), Public Procurement Concession Commission (PPCC), Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (LEITI) and Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) to help educate Liberians on how to successfully fight corruption and benefits that lie ahead for the Country, if victory is to be won.

On September 7-9 this year, a national conference aimed at enhancing the fight against corruption was held in Monrovia and subsequently extended to other parts of the Country in October.

The Auditor General of Liberia, Madam Yusador Gaye, presented the strategic document to President Weah on behalf of the integrity institutions.
