Information Minister vows to improve Gov.’s Info Machinery

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie has pledged to improve Government’s information machinery, to implement its policies and programs.

Minister Rennie said:” A well-coordinated and effective Government information dissemination will be the hallmark of his administration.”

The Information Minister also noted that different messages from governmental circle are responsible for mixed public reactions, and promised to adopt new approach.

Minister Rennie also pledged to work along with the media and further urged media practitioners to be professional in their reportage.

Speaking THURSDAY, October22,2020, when he officially took over as Minister of Information, the former Liberia Broadcasting System Boss cautioned the media against falsehood and to report with fairness.

Earlier, outgoing Information Minister Eugene Nagbe said the protection of Liberia’s democracy is the collective responsibility of all Liberians.

Mr. Nagbe said:” The Government of Liberia and the Opposition Community have the full responsibility to sustain the Country’s democracy, irrespective of their political differences.”

He said:” While Government is under the sacred obligation to guarantee the rights of all Liberians to protest, it does not equally give anyone or group of Liberians the right to pursue any undemocratic removal of the President.”

Meanwhile, the Director of Culture at the Information Ministry, Kerkulah Kamara, wants the Culture and Tourism Sectors revamped.

Mr. Kerkulah said once the two sectors are revamped, it will attract more tourists to Liberia and make Government generate more revenue.

He observed that over the past years, the sectors have been downplayed and appealed to the new Information Minister to support the sectors.

Mr. Kerkula said through culture, Government’s policies can be transmitted to the Liberian people.
