Justice Minister, three others to appear at Criminal Court ‘C’…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Justice Minister Cllr. Musa Dean and three others are expected to appear at Criminal Court ‘C’, to testify and present original documents in connection with the sixteen-billion Liberian Dollar case.

Judge Yamie Gbeisay’s July 22 writ is requesting the appearance of Minister Dean and CBL Executive Bank Governor, Aloysius Tarlue, on July 28, 2020.

Judge Gbeisay wants Minister Dean to produce and testify to the original copy of his January 10, 2020, communication to Crane Currency Acting Commercial Director for Africa and the Middle East, Peter Brown.

According to the writ, the Justice Minister is expected to respond to Crane Currency’s communication to the Presidential Investigation Team, in connection with the alleged printing and importation of sixteen billion Liberian Dollar banknotes by authorities of CBL.

CBL Executive Governor, Aloysius Tarlue, Dr. Mounir Siaplay, former Deputy Governor for Economic Policy and Jefferson Kambo, Director Research Policy and Planning of CBL, are also expected to appear.

Judge Gbeisay’s action is based on an application filed by Defense Lawyer Cllr. Abraham Sillah, consistent with Chapter 17, Section 17.3 of the Criminal Procedure Law of Liberia.
