Nat’l Elections Com. Burns 2017 election materials

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The 2017 elections materials have been finally burnt by the National Election Commission (NEC).

A July 14, 2020, release issued said the materials were burnt Monday, July 13, 2020, in Bensenville, at its Upper Monsterrado County Magisterial Office.

The exercise is in keeping with the New Elections Law of 1986.

NEC’s Acting Chairperson, Davidetta Browne Lansanah, said:” The ceremony demonstrates that NEC is now in election mood, referencing the upcoming 2020 Special Senatorial Elections and the Referendum.”

Madam Lansanah noted that materials that are no more needed for the conduct of elections must be removed from the warehouses, to make way for incoming new election materials.

According to the release, few Months ago, NEC started the burning exercise throughout the 19 Magisterial Offices in Liberia.
