Health Authorities Warn Against Community Residents Attack On Health Workers

Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah is warning community residents to desist from attacking health workers and contact tracers visiting communities.

Dr. Jallah said some unscrupulous individuals are throwing stones and sending dogs after health workers who go to communities to perform their duties.

The health Minister also said some Liberians are still gathering in groups, while some churches are still holding church services despite government’s order not to do so.

She said these violations will only undermine government’s fight to halt the spread of the corona virus in the country.

Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah, called on Liberians to support the measures and report sick people in the various communities to health authorities.

Meanwhile, the Incidence Management Team (IMT) said there are eight active cases and the death toll is still at three.

Liberia’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Francis Kateh, said 661 contacts have been traced from the total confirmed cases in the Country.

Of that number, Dr. Kateh said 78 contacts are health workers who came in contact with the coronavirus patients alive and diseased.

According to him, they are expected to run the tests of all direct contacts before initiating treatments.

Dr. Francis Kateh told a news conference Monday that about Three Hundred and Fifty-three contacts have completed their fourteen day incubation period awaiting their release.

Meanwhile, Dr.Kateh said they have deployed contact traces in communities of the confirmed cases to generate and enlist their contacts.
