Liberia Bar Mandates Senate’s Committee to probe Cllr. Ndubusi Nwabudike’s citizenship

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Liberia National Bar Association National Executive Committee has mandated its Grievance and Ethics Committee to probe the facts and circumstances surrounding Cllr.NdubusiNwa-budi-ke’s citizenship.

Cllr. Nwabudike is the Chairman-Designate of the National Elections Commission (NEC).

In a statement issued in Monrovia Wednesday, the LNBA emphasized that its decision is based on growing controversy surrounding Cllr. Nwabudike’s citizenship.

It says the conduct of the probe is useful to verifying whether or not the learned Counselor has met the requirements for becoming a citizen of Liberia.

The LNBA also emphasized that, if it finds out that the NEC Chairman-Designate Nwa-budi-ke fully met Liberia’s naturalization requirements, it would provide the public such  clarification, or proceed with the appropriate legal steps against him, if its findings prove contrary. According to the Bar, Section 17.1 of the Judiciary Law of Liberia restricts the practice of law in the Country only to Liberian citizens
