Children rescue from church accused of ill-treating them

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-(JARP DAVIES)-Authorities of the Ministry of Gender and the Liberia National Police has rescued about 29 children abandoned at a deliverance church in Ganta, Nimba County. 

The children were reportedly abandoned at the church by their parents and guardians for more than three years since they were taken there for “spiritual cleansing.”

Speaking with the Liberia News Agency in Ganta, Thursday, January 16,2020, Gender Ministry Nimba County Supervisor, Victor Zeegban, said:” The children were rescued from the ‘Fire for Fire Deliverance Church’ following a tipoff.

He disclosed that the children, age 1 to 16, were accused of witchcraft by their relatives.

Mr. Zeegban accused authorities of the church of mal-treating the kids.
