MONROVIA, Liberia – The China-aided Bamboo and Rattan Weaving Technical Team recently held a pre-departure meeting in Monrovia for four outstanding trainees selected to visit China for a cultural and vocational exchange program.

Over the next two weeks, the group will travel to Beijing and Fujian to gain firsthand knowledge of China’s bamboo and rattan industry, traditional handicrafts, and cultural heritage.

The exchange program highlights a broader effort to deepen people-to-people ties and vocational cooperation between China and Liberia.

A statement from the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia says the experience is designed to help the group build upon their international perspectives and acquire advanced industrial techniques to bring back home.

During their two-week trip, the statement noted that the trainees will tour Chinese bamboo and rattan enterprises, cultural sites, and vocational training institutions.
