A high-powered delegation from the African American Male Education Network and Development, AAMEND, has arrived in Liberia for an 8-day educational and cultural exchange.
The delegation includes college presidents and student mentees from the United States.
While in Liberia, the team will tour the country’s education system, explore historical ties between African Americans and Liberia, and examine U.S. – Liberia relations and the Liberian legal system.
According to AAMEND, the visit seeks to build stronger partnerships with Liberian institutions and expand youth exchange and mentorship programs.
The delegation will also hold discussions on the root causes and impact of the Liberian civil war, as well as Liberia’s peacebuilding and development efforts.
Throughout the week-long visit, the team is expected to meet with government officials, civil society actors, university administrators, and other key stakeholders.
