Gov’t of Liberia Condemns Drone Attack on Liberian-Flagged Vessel…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has condemned a drone attack on a Liberian-flagged vessel in Saudi Arabian waters.

Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Ambassador Robert Kpadeh, confirmed the incident during a sub-committee meeting at the IMO’s Headquarters.

Ambassador Kpadeh identified the vessel by its IMO ship identification Number 8771332, stating that it was struck by a drone on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

He reported that an initial assessment of the damage to the vessel is currently ongoing.

The Liberian Envoy emphasized that such actions are a direct challenge to the fundamental principles of maritime freedom.

Ambassador Kpadeh underscored that the freedom of navigation is a guarantee enshrined in international laws and the core regulations of the IMO, and that attacks of this nature undermine the safety and security of global maritime commerce.
