Pres. Boakai Convenes First Cabinet Meeting in 2026

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has convened the first Cabinet Meeting of the year, 2026.

The Cabinet Meeting is taking place today, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Executive Mansion.

According to the ELBC Executive Mansion Reporter, the Liberian Leader and members of his Cabinet are reviewing the status of implementation of the Government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).

The ARREST Agenda focuses on Agriculture, Road, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism.

Our reporter also said President Boakai is assessing progress made across key sectors in advancing the administration’s national development priorities.

President Boakai urged Cabinet Ministers to remain focused on achieving maximum success at their respective ministries and agencies of the government.

He said,” Doing so will encourage public trust, deliver impactful results, and create meaningful opportunities for the Liberian people”.

The Liberian Leader cautioned them to remain robust in the execution of key policies that aim to transform lives and improve the overall infrastructural outlook of the country.

The Cabinet Meeting, among several issues, is focused on the progress made and challenges incurred so far in the implementation of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

President Joseph Boakai urged Cabinet Ministers to unite and cooperate in addressing challenges confronting youth unemployment and pertinent national issues.

Meanwhile, President Boakai has emphasized the global economic impact of the Middle East conflict on Liberia and other African nations.

He said,” To address this concern, the government has engaged stakeholders in the Petroleum Industry and other sectors to make prices stable and affordable for citizens”.

The Liberian Leader said, despite the Middle East conflict and its consequences on the world, Liberia is well-positioned to tackle emerging economic challenges.

He, at the same time, warned public officials to remain cognizant of their obligations to the people, emphasizing that the government will not relent to terminate and replace anyone if the need arises.

It can be recalled that the last Cabinet Meeting for 2025 was held in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, in December.

The December 2025 Cabinet Meeting saw the establishment of a National Employment Acceleration Strategy as well as the endorsement of the 1.2 billion National Budget for Fiscal Year 2026.

Still at the Executive, President Boakai has expanded the mandate of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC).

President Boakai took the decision through the issuance of Executive Order Number 159 on Wednesday, March 5, 2026.

Through the Executive Order, the LRRRC is mandated to consolidate and strengthen national coordination on refugee protection, migration governance, statelessness response, and reintegration of returned Liberians.

The Executive Order also incorporates provisions of Executive Order 144 to modernize Liberia’s institutional framework and address evolving population movements, migration trends, and humanitarian challenges affecting the country.

According to the Executive Mansion, President Boakai emphasized that Liberia continues to experience complex migration dynamics, including mixed migration flows, residual refugee populations, and stateless persons in border communities.

President Boakai also highlighted the increasing return and deportation of Liberian nationals from abroad.

The Liberian Chief Executive noted that a unified national coordination mechanism is essential to safeguarding national security, promoting social cohesion, and ensuring humanitarian protection.
