MONROVIA, LIBERIA-An official of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) has called for a joint effort to mitigate the destruction of the Liberian forest and valuable species.
Victor Kpaiseh, FDA Deputy Managing Director for Administration and Finance, said,” The threats to precious resources are mounting on the Liberian forest, stressing the urgent need for action.
According to Kpaiseh, the presence of Burkinabe and illegal traders in the forest is contributing hugely to a wide range of habitat destruction.
The FDA Official spoke on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Paynesville City Hall during a program marking this year’s World Wildlife Day.
The day was observed under the theme:” Medicinal Aromatic Plants, Conserving Health Heritage and Livelihoods”.
Meanwhile, the Country Director of Fauna and Flora, Dr. Mary Molokwu-Odozi, stressed the importance of the preservation of the forest.
Dr. Molokwu-Odozi said,” When the forest is lost, mankind loses species and opportunities for sustainable livelihood”.
The Fauna and Flora Country Director remarked when she delivered the keynote address at the World Wildlife Day official celebration in Paynesville City.
