Firestone-Liberia Workers Proclaim Strike Action in Thirty Days If…

MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-Workers of Firestone-Liberia have announced a strike action across the concession amid non-compliance.

Declaring the action over the weekend, the Secretary General of the Liberia Labor Congress, Marcus Blamah, said,” the decision is based on Firestone-Liberia’s refusal to abide by the recent Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)”.

According to Blamah, the company has continued to violate several key provisions in the CBA.

He named unlawful dismissal, constant intimidation, and multiple hiring of foreigners above Liberians, among others.

Blamah, therefore, set a thirty-day ultimatum for Firestone-Liberia to respect the CBA and stop all necessary dismissals across the concession.

Meanwhile, the Firestone-Liberia Management has vowed to address concerns raised by the workers appropriately before the thirty-day ultimatum.
