MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Members of the National Legislature are investigating Lone Star and Orange GSM companies over reported network disruptions across Liberia.
The lawmakers believe that both GSM companies are underperforming, thus negatively affecting customers who rely on their services.
The investigation followed a communication from Nimba County District Three Representative, Nehker Gaye.
Representative Gaye wants the GSM providers to expand network coverage and improve services, particularly in rural communities.
According to Representative Gaye, access to the internet and call services in rural areas is nearly impossible, undermining the livelihoods of residents.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has mandated its Committee on Telecommunications to probe the situation.
Lone Star and Orange GSM companies will appear before the Committee to provide reports on the full utilization of their services and outline steps to better serve the public
