Justice Ministry Investigates Leaked Video at Monrovia Central Prison

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Justice is investigating a leaked video reportedly showing an interaction between Justin Oldpa Yeazeahn, also known as “Prophet Key,” and other inmates at a shop at the Monrovia Central Prison.

According to the Ministry, the recording violates the rights of the inmates.

The footage, which has circulated on social media, appears to depict conduct that may constitutea serious breach of established prison regulations and operational protocols.

A release said the integrity, discipline, and security of Liberia’s correctional facilities are essential to maintaining public trust and upholding the rule of law.

The Justice Ministry has directed the relevant authorities to commence a full and transparent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

It said the investigation will be thorough, in part, and conducted without delay.

Meanwhile, the government has announced a review of existing oversight and compliance mechanisms within the correctional system to strengthen procedures where necessary to prevent recurrence.
