MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Public Safety Division of the Ministry of Justice is currently reviewing a video footage showing individuals in security uniforms under the banner:” National Fula Security of Liberia.”
Over the weekend, the video portraying a group of men undergoing training went viral on social media.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 16, 2026, the Liberia National Police clarified that it did not recognize or have knowledge of the group’s existence before the appearance of the video.
The police said that, while further updates are pending, the review process at the Ministry of Justice is progressing.
Meanwhile, the police are calling on citizens to remain calm and report suspicious activities that may undermine community safety and national security.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice has ordered the immediate halt to all activities of the so-called National Fula Security of Liberia.
The Justice Ministry said,” Any continuation of the group’s activities will be considered a direct violation of the laws of Liberia”.
According to a release, the Government of Liberia will recognize, legitimize, or tolerate the formation of unauthorized security structures, particularly those organized along ethnic, tribal, communal, or sectarian lines.
It said national security, law enforcement, and public order are constitutional responsibilities of legally established state institutions.
The Ministry has instructed relevant security and regulatory agencies to investigate this matter immediately.
It said that where violations are established, appropriate enforcement actions will follow in strict accordance with the law.
At the same time, the Minister of Justice, Cllr. Oswald Tweh is calling for sustained coordination among security agencies to protect the public and preserve the integrity of national security.
Minister Tweh said,” Aviation security remains a critical component of the country’s broader national security framework”.
According to a release, the Attorney General made the remarks recently when he led a high-level National Security tour of the Roberts International Airport in Margibi County.
Cllr. Tweh commended the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) for what he described as proactive leadership in safeguarding the country’s international gateway.
For his part, the Managing Director of the LAA, Earnest Hughes, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to upholding international aviation standards.
The LAA boss also stressed deepening cooperation with state security institutions to ensure safe and efficient airport operations.
