MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Deputy Public Works Minister for Technical Services, Prince Tamba, is proposing several key reforms to strengthen Liberia’s engineering sector.
He named the creation of a unified national building code, improved geometric design standards for infrastructure, and more rigorous building inspection systems to enhance safety, transparency, and compliance.
The Deputy Public Works Minister made the recommendation at the 8th Annual Conference of the Engineering Society of Liberia (ESOL) held in Gompa City, Nimba County, over the weekend.
He also suggested developing a National Engineering Policy in partnership with ESOL, which would focus on advancing engineering education, research, and public-private sector collaboration.
During the program, Deputy Minister Tamba received multiple prestigious awards for his outstanding contributions to the engineering profession.
He was honored with the titles of Engineer of the Year 2025, Outstanding Service Award for Excellence, and was inducted as a “Fellow” of ESOL.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Prince Tamba has called for enhanced collaboration, innovation, and regulatory reforms to drive national development through engineering excellence.
Minister Tamba emphasized the critical role engineers play in rebuilding and modernizing Liberia’s infrastructure, asserting that engineering, research, and innovation must be central to the nation’s development agenda.
The Deputy Public Works Minister made the statement at the 8th Annual Conference of the Engineering Society of Liberia (ESOL) held in Gompa City, Nimba County, over the weekend.

Minister Tamba also praised the Society’s efforts to establish a robust licensing framework and affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working with ESOL to uphold Liberia’s Local Content Policy, including the 25-percent local content requirement.
