MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Mines and Energy has officially launched the Compact Delivery and Monitoring Unit (CDMU).
The launch is intended to speed up the implementation of the National Energy Compact under the Mission 300 initiative.
The exercise was led by Acting Minister of Mines and Energy, William Hines, who described the launch as a major step toward turning the plans of the government into reality.
Acting Minister Hines said,” The Unit will strengthen coordination and improve monitoring in the Energy Sector”.
He stressed that development depends on effective implementation and accountability.
The Acting Mines and Energy Minister noted that the CDMU will also help identify challenges and ensure that energy projects are delivered on time.
Acting Minister William Hines reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing reliable and affordable energy, saying that the CDMU will play a key role in improving the lives of Liberians.
Meanwhile, development partners have welcomed the launch of CDMU, describing it as a major step toward achieving national and continental energy goals.
Representatives of the African Development Bank and the World Bank praised the government’s commitment to accountability and project delivery.
According to a release, the EU and the Rockefeller Foundation also pledged their continued support for Liberia’s energy transformation agenda, especially in renewable energy and clean cooking solutions.
They expressed confidence that with strong leadership and coordination, Liberia will make steady progress toward expanding electricity access and promoting sustainable development nationwide.
