MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has shut down the Jaza Water Company in Rehab to protect public health and the environment.
Under Section 35.1 (a) of the Environmental Protection and Management Law of Liberia, the EPA is legally empowered to establish criteria for water quality measurement and to set minimum standards for various water uses, including drinking water.
During the exercise on Wednesday, February 5, 2026, the EPA said the company failed to obtain permits, and it is functioning under unsafe and unsanitary conditions that pose serious risks to public health.
Recently, the EPA shut down many mineral water facilities, including the Best Choice, MU-YAN, Enjoy Life, and Leela, among others.
Meanwhile, the Environmental Protection Agency has strongly warned all water producers to immediately take steps to regularize their status, and assure them of the Agency’s continued technical guidance and support.
