RANCHI, INDIA – The thirty Mining Engineers and Geologists from the Ministry of Mines and Energy currently on an advanced knowledge study mission in India, have toured the India Institute of Coal Management, one of the largest mine technology learning centres in that Asian nation.
The Day-2 study tour at the India Institute of Coal Management in Ranchi was impactful, as the Liberian professional Engineers (Mining) and Geologists explored new ideas and garnered knowledge in mine health and safety and other modern techniques in incident/accident prevention and management.
The core focus of this knowledge enhancement opportunity provided through a bilateral partnership between the Governments of Liberia and India is addressing the following key areas:
*Health, Safety, and inspection for mining and exploration operations.
* Fundamentals of Geology
* Exploration Techniques
* Reserve Estimation, classification and reporting standards
* Software tools for geological modelling and Resource Estimation
* Mining operations
* Visits to Underground Mines
* Automations in Mining equipment – Remote and automatic operations
* Digital Technology
* Drone and sensor application in surveying, monitoring and safety
* Mine sites visit surface and underground
* Occupational health and safety
* Mine closure planning and post mining reclamation, etcetera.
As their study tour progresses in India over the days ahead, there are promising prospects and possibilities of the Liberian Mining Engineers and Geologists acquiring more knowledge and technical skills that today’s mining industry is demanding from professionals in the sector. Beneficiaries of this training initiative are responsible to manage the County Offices of the Mines and Energy Ministry.
“We thank the Ministry of Mines and Energy family for this technical capacity-building opportunity given to us. We look forward to returning home and impacting.
