MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Port Authority (NPA) has launched a one-million-dollar fundraiser initiative at the University of Liberia (UL).
The initiative aims at procuring about thirty thousand chairs, renovating classrooms, and rehabilitating bedroom facilities.
The initiative emphasizes the collective responsibility to invest in the institution’s future.
The NPA Managing Director, Sekou Dukuly, said,” The fundraiser aligns with the Liberian Government’s vision for people-centered development and human capital formation at the core of Liberia’s reconstruction strategy”.
The NPA boss noted that education remains the most enduring investment any nation can make in its future.
In his overview, Dukuly emphasized the critical role of the UL in producing intellectual capital and driving national development.
The NPA Managing Director also noted that the initiative is a call to stakeholders in both the private and public sectors to enhance education and contribute to Liberia’s economic recovery and social transformation.
At the same time, the UL President, Dr. Layli Marpanyan, highlighted the institution’s role as an epitome of the Liberian society, stressing the importance of education in national renewal.
Dr. Marpanyan described the theme of the program “Coming Together to Revitalize UL” as timely, compelling, and a driving force.
The UL President said,” The future of the UL cannot be secured by one institution or sector, but a collective responsibility, shared commitment, and a united belief.
She lauded the NPA for its support, noting that the resources mobilized will ensure effective teaching, while restoring dignity, health, and comfort to students and faculty.
Dr. Layli Marpanyan called for generous contributions to enhance the University of Liberia’s capacity to produce problem solvers and nation builders.
