Africa Youth Assembly (WAYA), Ambassador Emmanuel Chea, has described the nomination of Attorney Cornelia Kruah as Minister of Youth and Sports as a defining moment for youth leadership and regional engagement in Liberia, pending confirmation by the Liberian Senate.
Ambassador Chea said,” The nomination comes at a strategic time as Liberia prepares to host the ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre as its official headquarters, a development he noted will position the country at the center of youth and sports policy coordination within the ECOWAS region”.
According to him, Attorney Kruah’s nomination, which would make her the youngest Minister of Youth and Sports in the ECOWAS region if confirmed, reflects a growing national commitment to generational inclusion and youth-responsive leadership.
He added that the West African Youth Assembly has welcomed the move as an opportunity to strengthen youth participation in governance, align Liberia’s youth agenda with ECOWAS frameworks, and expand access to leadership, sports development, and civic engagement platforms.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Chea also commended President Joseph Boakai for promoting inclusive leadership, noting that as Liberia assumes greater regional responsibility, the focus must now be on translating leadership decisions into meaningful impact for young people across the country.
