LOFA COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Education has inducted the new leadership of the County Education Officers (CEOs) over the weekend in Voinjama, Lofa County.
Those inducted are David Boakai of Bong County as Chairman of the CEO Council, Amanda Zota of Montserrado County District 1 as Vice Chair, and Jallah Sammy of River Gee as Secretary General. Others are Francis Leagay of Nimba as Public Relations Officer, Samuel Koenig of Sinoe as Chaplain, and Harrison Darwolor of Cape Mount as Advisor of the Council.
Speaking during the program, Education Minister Dr. Jarso Jallah reminded the officers that they are the ministers of education in their respective counties. She noted that the future of Liberia’s children depends on the credibility of the country’s education system.
Dr. Jallah charged the officers to serve with integrity, discipline, and passion, to protect public resources, strengthen school supervision, and enforce education laws and policies without fear or favor.
In response, the newly inducted Chairman of the CEOs Council, David Boakai, outlined what he called a bold vision for transforming Liberia’s education system.
He emphasized that education is the engine of President Joseph N. Boakai’s ARREST agenda, driving progress in agriculture, infrastructure, rule of law, sanitation, and tourism.
Mr. Boakai pledged to align county education offices with national development priorities, strengthen institutional capacity, advocate for equity in underserved districts, and promote innovation through data-driven decision making.
The newly elected Chairman of the CEOs Council further called for decentralization, timely funding, and logistical support to empower county education offices as true agents of implementation.
He urged his colleagues to rise above partisanship and personal interests, declaring that education is the most powerful weapon to change the world.
