Liberia’s Vice Pres. Koung Calls on Liberian Senate to Collaborate…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Vice President, Jeremiah Koung, has called on members of the Liberian Senate to collaborate and formulate policies and laws that strengthen governance, deepen democracy, and uphold the rule of law, irrespective of their political alliances.

The President of the Liberian Senate said,” Through enhanced collaboration and deliberate actions, Liberia will experience growth and development”.

The Liberian Vice President used the occasion to commend the opposition for holding the government accountable, adding that a strong democracy requires scrutiny, vigilance, and dissent.

Vice President Koung urged members of the ruling Unity Party to remain focused, disciplined, and humble, noting that true leadership is measured by deliverables achieved.

The President of the Senate made the statement on Monday, January 12, 2026, when he addressed the official opening of the Senate.

At the Lower House, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Richard Koon, has called on members of the National Legislature to lead with renewed purpose and commitment in serving the Liberian people.

Speaker Koon said,” Members of the National Legislature possess the power to change narratives and improve the livelihood of the people through proper legislation”.

He was speaking on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the grounds of the Capital during the official opening of the Third Session of the National Legislature.

Speaker Koon challenged his colleagues to build on the gains made and forge a new beginning.

Meanwhile, the speaker has called on members of the House to advance innovative ideas to transform the Country.
