MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia is set to host the 41st General Assembly of the ECOWAS Brown Card Scheme.
The initiative will take place from November 24 to 27, 2025.
The event will bring together officials from the National Bureaus of the ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme, including top officials of the Liberian Government, to discuss its development and performance.
At a press conference on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the Permanent Secretary-General of ECOWAS Brown Card, Winefred Kulasi, highlighted key areas of the event.
Kulasi said,” The system is a mechanism instituted by ECOWAS to guarantee victims of traffic accidents a prompt and fair compensation for accidents caused by non-resident motorists travelling through the region.
Remarking at the conference, the Director of Insurance at the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), Atty. Nathaniel Chea-Gbaba disclosed Liberia’s preparedness to host the 41st General Assembly of the ECOWAS Brown Card Scheme in Monrovia.
Atty. Chea Gbaba stressed the urgent need for collaboration between ECOWAS Member States to ensure that victims of traffic accidents receive fair compensation for accidents caused by non-resident motorists travelling through the region.
The CBL Director of Insurance is quoted as saying every vehicle that is insured in each ECOWAS Member State must have an ECOWAS Brown Card to ensure that they receive the necessary benefits.
