MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A high-power UN delegation is in Liberia to strengthen the existing bilateral relationship between Liberia and the UN.
The move is part of the UN’s ongoing efforts to prevent torture and ensure humane treatment for all persons in detention.
According to a release, the UN delegation, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to Justice Minister Oswald Tweh to assess Liberia’s efforts against torture and ill treatment in places of detention.
The release is quoted as saying that, during the visit, Justice Minister Tweh provided updates on Liberia’s legal and institutional frameworks in protecting human rights.
Meanwhile, the Justice Minister has reaffirmed the Liberian Government’s commitment to holding international human rights standards.
