Pres. Boakai Declares Today Tuesday, September 16, Nat’l Identification Day

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has declared today, Tuesday, September 16, as a National Holiday to be observed throughout Liberia as a working holiday.

President Boakai called on the National Identification Registry, relevant government institutions, and international organizations concerned to initiate and execute appropriate activities to mark the commemoration of the day.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, this year’s observance will take place under the global theme: “My Identity, My Umbrella”.

The release added that an indoor program commemorating the day will be held at the Paynesville Town Hall.

The Proclamation noted that the Liberian Government believes inclusive identity built on respect for privacy and human rights is essential for economic growth and digital transformation.
