MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Criminal Court “A” has granted one part of the Defense Lawyers’ submissions to the Court by ordering state lawyers to keep the six defendants at the Monrovia Central Prison and not in Margibi County, due to the area of jurisdiction.
Judge Roosevelt Willie also dismissed the Defense Lawyers’ exceptions
That he was perpetually keeping the defendants in prison, saying that the six defendants filed an invalid bail bond, with only three of them not at flight risk, but were allowed to proffer a valid bond as provided by law.
On the issue of suppressing state lawyers’ evidence, Judge Willie suspended his ruling for Thursday, September 4, 2025.
Judge Willie’s decision was a result of both lawyers’ claims and counterclaims regarding the credibility of the evidence submitted to the Defense Team.
The Defense claimed that the extraction of the evidence by the National Security Agency (NSA) was illegal, and they were not clothed with the authority to investigate criminal matters.
The Defense argued that the search and seizure warrant went contrary to the time they extracted evidence from the defendants following the December 18, 2024, incident on the Capitol Building.
But the Defense Team was strongly resisted by the Montserrado County Chief Prosecutor, Cllr. Richard Scott, who prayed the Court to deny the Defense’s submission.
