MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former House Speaker Fonati Koffa and others will appear at the Criminal Court in Monrovia for trial to respond to their indictment with a “guilty” or “not guilty” plea.
Their appearance comes at a time when Criminal Court “A” denied the request of six suspects in the Capitol Building fire incident to be released on bail from the Monrovia Central Prison, after they submitted a fake property bond valued at 2.8 million dollars to the Court.
A communication dated August 22, 2025, from Montserrado County Atty.., Cllr. Richard Scott, to Criminal Court, Roosevelt Willie, requesting for speedy trial, contradicts reports that they were delaying the matter before the Court.
Based on the communication, Judge Willie assigned the matter for Thursday, August 28, 2025, demanding the appearance of lawyers of the parties at 10 in the morning.
Suspect Koffa is among fourteen others, who were indicted by the special Grand Jury of Montserrado County for allegedly burning the Capitol Building on December 18, last year.
