Pres. Boakai Holds Discussions with Mayor of Yokohama

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has held discussions with the Mayor of Yokohama City, Dr. Takeharu Yamanaka, on the margins of the ongoing Tokyo International Conference on African Development.

President Boakai and Mayor Tamanaka discussed opportunities for city-to-city cooperation in the areas of water supply, waste management, port operations, and technical knowledge transfer.

At the strategic meeting, both leaders agreed to establish a working framework to advance the collaborative areas and inaugurate a new chapter in cooperative city diplomacy.

According to the press release, these collaborative areas aim to deliver concrete benefits for both the City of Yokohama and Liberian cities.

President Boakai said, “The partnership will strengthen Liberia’s Maritime position, advance urban renewal and foster people-to-people ties that support the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, when finalized”.
