MONROVIA, LIBERIA-More than ninety Liberian students have been awarded Scholarships to pursue higher education in the People’s Republic of China.
The scholarships were made possible through a strong affirmation of Liberia’s commitment to global education and the Ministry of Education.
During the ceremony held at the Chinese Embassy in Congo Town, Education Minister Dr. Jarso Jallah, who represented President Joseph Boakai, said,” The initiative is a bridge to national transformation, emphasizing its long-term impact on Liberia’s human capital”.
She said the scholarships represent more than just academic excellence; they symbolize leadership, hope, and the power of partnership, saying, “Our scholars will return prepared to strengthen Liberia’s Education through global knowledge”.
Minister Jallah thanked the Chinese Embassy for the enduring support and acknowledged the contributions of Liberian educators, institutions, and families.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries hailed from institutions across Liberia, including Bong Community College, Tubman University, and the University of Liberia, benefiting from the Chinese Government Scholarship, the Guizhou International Scholarship, championed by Monrovia Mayor Hon. John Charuk Siafa and the Confucius Institution.
The Ceremony was attended by key national leaders whose presence underscored a unified commitment to youth empowerment and international cooperation.
Amongst those present are Dr. Jarso Jallah, Minister of Education, Nathaniel McGill, Senator and Chair, Senate Committee on Education, Dr. Alexander Nuetah, Minister of Agriculture, and
Deweh Gray, Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In her closing remarks, Minister Jallah reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to building a resilient and globally competitive Liberia through education.
Dr. Jallah said,” With our partners, we are investing in the future. Our vision is clear: ‘transform today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders’.
