MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Members of the Liberian Cabinet, led by Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti, on Monday converged at the Rehab Offices of President Joseph Boakai for a sympathy visit on the passing of the fallen Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Sylvester Grigsby.
The Minister Grigsby was remembered as a dedicated public servant, committed to whatever position he occupied.
A release quotes some of his colleagues as describing him as a steady hand, a calm character, and one who always gave a listening ear to others.
Reflecting on their relationship that lasted over sixty years, President Boakai said,” The fallen stateman will remain in his memory as a brother”.
The Liberian Leader noted the depth of trust he had in the late Minister, describing the passing as a great loss to the nation.
Meanwhile, the government said that it is working along with the family of the Minister to put into motion funeral arrangements, which will be announced shortly.
Meanwhile, the US Embassy near Monrovia has joined Liberia in mourning the passing of Minister Grigsby.
The US Embassy said Minister Grigsby was a dedicated public servant and a cherished partner in strengthening US-Liberia relations.
In a heartfelt statement, the Embassy expressed deep sorrow over Minister Grigsby’s death, extending sympathies to his family, colleagues, and the Liberian people.
The statement quotes the Embassy as saying it has lost not just an esteemed colleague, but a true friend whose leadership enriched both countries.
Minister Grigsby was widely respected for his diplomatic acumen and commitment to fostering strong ties between Liberia and the United States.
His work as a statesman left a lasting impact on international cooperation, earning him admiration at home and abroad.
The US Embassy also said that while it grieves his passing, it also celebrates his remarkable contributions to peace and progress.
At the same time, the National Muslim Council of Liberia has consoled President Joseph Boakai, the government, the bereaved family, and Liberians for the passing of Ambassador Grigsby.
In a release issued over the weekend, the Council’s Chairman, Alhaji Fumbah Sheriff, described Minister Grigsby’s death as an indelible loss to the country.
Chairman Sheriff recounted the numerous contributions made by the late minister and recalled his exemplary public life and immeasurable sacrifices to national development in Liberia and during his many years in foreign service.
According to Chairman Sheriff, the late minister played a vital role in developing and shaping the government’s development programs through President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.
The National Muslim Council Chairman prayed that God would console the Grigsby family during this difficult period.
