MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Internal Affairs has embarked upon a set of initiatives aimed at consolidating the momentum of the national healing, reconciliation, and unity program launched by President Joseph Boakai.
Addressing a news conference on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in Monrovia, Internal Affairs Minister Francis Nyumalin underscored the roadmap for achieving the President’s vision as strengthening institutional capacity-building for national healing, peace building and reconciliation, stakeholder engagement for the establishment of a national memorial park and a war museum, as well as the establishment of a technical committee to design and develop broad-based consultations.
He named a resource mobilization strategy and technical support to the proposed Independent National Reconciliation Council and a National Reconciliation Steering Committee as part of the roadmap.
Minister Nyumalin disclosed that the ministry will seek the endorsement of President Boakai to activate an Independent National Reconciliation Council and a National Reconciliation Steering Committee to guide reconciliation efforts envisaged by the 18-year strategic roadmap for national healing, peace building, and reconciliation.
Minister Nyumalin disclosed that the council and committee will comprise relevant government institutions, civil society organizations, and the National Council of Chiefs and other traditional leaders to oversee reconciliation initiatives and ensure the government’s collective approach and consistent policy
