MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA) and the Liberia Standards Authority (LISA) have signed a technical cooperation agreement for the construction and operationalization of a fisheries competent laboratory, valued at four million US dollars.
Speaking during the signing ceremony on Monday, July 7, the Acting Director General of NAFAA, Cyrus Saygbe, emphasized that in line with the Memorandum of Understanding, the LISA will lead on the technical design, accreditation and management of the laboratory, while NAFAA will oversee the construction and equipping of the laboratory to ensure its full operation readiness.
The NAFFA acting head describes the collaboration as a significant journey towards quality assurance, food safety, economic empowerment, synergy, and complementarity to promote the agenda.
He disclosed that NAFAA and LISA will institute mechanisms for ongoing collaboration, training, and continuous improvement to support Liberia’s growing fisheries sector.
