MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Prosecuting Lawyers on Tuesday filed a Bill of Exception in the Criminal Appearance Bond filed by Defense Lawyers on behalf of their clients in the alleged arson case.
The law provides that when a bond has been filed, the prosecution or defense lawyers have three days to challenge the legal credibility of the bond proffered.
On Monday, July 7, 2025, Criminal Court ‘A’ approved the Criminal Appearance Bond of more indictees, thereby placing a hold on their release to a later date.
On Monday, Judge Roosevelt Willie accepted a property bond proffered to the court by Defense Lawyer Cllr. Wilkins Wright in the tone of four hundred thousand US dollars.
The bond in question shielded defendants Thomas Etheridge, Eric Susay, and John Nyanti, among others.
The defendants are among fourteen others, including former Speaker Cllr. Fonati Koffa, who was indicted by the Grand Jury of Montserrado County in connection with the burning of the Capitol on December 18, last year.
They were charged with multiple offenses ranging from arson, criminal attempt to commit murder, criminal conspiracy, and criminal facilitation, among others.
