MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Education Minister Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah says Liberia needs true healing for reconciliation to be meaningful, not just for show.
She spoke on ELBC as Chairperson of the National Reburial Committee for former Presidents Samuel K. Doe and Dr. William R. Tolbert Jr., as Liberia prepares to complete the reburial process on July 5, Dr. Jallah said healing and reconciliation must go hand in hand.
According to her, reburying the two former leaders isn’t just about honoring the past—it’s also a chance for the country to have honest conversations about its history and learn from it.
She supports the idea of writing a book about the whole journey, including how the state planned it and the stories shared by the families.
Dr. Jallah believes this book would teach young people about the pain caused by conflict and help build a future focused on peace and responsibility.
