Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission’s Delegation Arrives in Maryland County

MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA-A delegation from the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has arrived in Maryland County to monitor compliance with the recently launched asset declaration initiative by President Joseph Boakai.

The delegation is headed by LACC Program Manager for Education and Prevention, John Tommy.

In an interview with ELBC on Monday, March 25, 2025, in Harper, Mr. Tommy said:” Our visit is aimed at raising public awareness about anti-corruption efforts, which is a vital part of the LACC’s broader strategy to enhance transparency and accountability.”

He emphasized the significance of asset declarations in the fight against corruption, clarifying that the process applies not only to government officials but also to all presidential appointees and civil servants.

According to him, during their stay in the county, the LACC will assist local government officials in filling out their asset declaration forms, ensuring that the process is made more accessible to all.

Mr. Tommy noted that the Commission’s goal is to raise awareness and foster full participation in the asset declaration process, which is essential for strengthening integrity and accountability in public service.
