Pres. Boakai Dedicates Salaries of Non-Compliant Gov. Officials…

MONROVIA, LEBRIA-President Joseph Boakai has dedicated the salaries of all non-compliant officials of asset declaration to the “One Child, One Chair Presidential Initiative”.

An Executive Mansion release says the over ninety thousand U.S Dollars allocated funds will go towards enhancing the learning conditions of primary and secondary schools across the country.

President Boakai, in the release, directed the Civil Service Agency to collaborate with the Ministry of Finance in establishing an escrow account to maximize the impact of said funds.

President Boakai believes that this move reinforces the government’s commitment to upholding integrity in public service, while prioritizing policies that directly benefit the citizens, especially school-going children.

At the same time, the Civil Service Agency (CSA) has been ordered to work closely with the Ministry of Education to fully implement the “One Child, One Chair Presidential Initiative”.

Under the Initiative, chairs are being procured to ease the sitting capacity at primary and secondary schools across the Country.

CSA Director General, Josiah Joekai, told ELBC on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, that, as mandated by the President, the over 90 thousand US Dollars collected from the salaries of officials who did not declare their assets will go toward the program.

Mr. Joekai also disclosed that an escrow account was opened at the Central Bank of Liberia, where the money for the project is being deposited.

Meanwhile, the Civil Service Agency and the Bureau of State-Owned Enterprises have begun identifying heads of SOEs who have not declared their assets to block and remit their salaries to the “One Child, One Chair” Account at CBL.
