Int’l Rescue Committee Proclaims Closure of Country Office in Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has announced the closure of its country office in Liberia on April 30, this year.

The IRC was launched in 1996 to respond to the needs of internally displaced persons.

Through the Liberian Government’s support, the IRC has built resilience and contributed to the long-term sustainable development of the country,

Since its beginning, the IRC Liberia Country Program instituted over two dozen programs, managing and implementing over two hundred million US Dollars in support from different donors.

IRC programs impacted over 3.5 million persons in communities throughout Liberia, working in twelve of the fifteen counties of Liberia.

IRC’s Deputy Country Director in Liberia, Yalew Desta Abebe, expressed gratitude to the government for the progress made over the years.

Mr. Abebe said:” After years of working in Liberia, it has seen the country transformed in growth and development.”
