Gov. of Liberia, Partners End Nationally Determined Contributions Validation Stock take Report

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Government, Government and government partners have ended the validation of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) stocktake Report and launched the NDC 3.0 process.

The process is aimed at strengthening climate action and aligns with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

On the occasion of Friday, EPA Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel Yarkpawolo said:” The NDC represents the core of Liberia’s commitment to the fight against the global climate change and the affirmation of the NDC process that was held in Paris in 2015.”

Dr. Yarkpawolo maintained that the NDC also gives a comprehensive report on the progress Liberia has made in meeting its climate commitment.

He urged citizens and partners to see the launch of the NDC as a symbol to further enhance the resilience of Liberia’s ecosystem communities in the changing climate.

Meanwhile, UNDP Resident Representative Aliou Dia underscored the importance of ambitious NDCs, making them a top priority for the UN system.

Mr. Dia reiterated the importance of sustained collaboration in advancing Liberia’s climate ambition as the country targets reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 64 percent by 2030.

He wants stakeholders to take ownership of Liberia’s climate commitments and work collectively to ensure the country achieves its target.

The UNDP Resident Representative also called on the government to mobilize resources for the implementation of such a process.
