Tubman University Agriculture, Food College in Maryland County Harvests First Rice…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The- The Agriculture and Food College of the Tubman University in Maryland County has harvested its first rice planted on savannah land in Harper City.

The initiative seeks to address long-held beliefs about the feasibility of rice farming in the county.

Our Correspondent quotes the Dean of the College, Dr. Larry Hwang, as describing the initiative as a pilot project designed to test the feasibility of growing both lowland and upland rice on the savannah soil.

According to our Correspondent, Dr. Hwang did not disclose the quantity of the rice, but emphasized that the yield will support agricultural expansion for both the university and the community.

Meanwhile, the university’s students and faculty lauded the administration and called on the government to support the institution’s initiative to produce more rice in the county.
