Nat’l Public Health Institute of Liberia Begins Bidding Process…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) has begun the bidding process for the procurement of materials for the renovation of the National Reference Laboratory.

According to NPHIL Deputy Director General for Technical Services, Dr. Julius Gilayeneh, the renovation will boost the Health Sector of the Country.

He admonished prospective contractors to take ownership of the process upon winning the contract.

The bidding process is in adherence to the Public Procurement Law, which gives Liberian-owned businesses the opportunity to spearhead contracts in Liberia, and the process is a five-day activity that runs from March 3 to March 7, 2025.

Meanwhile, NPHIL Director General, Dr. Dougbeh Nyan, has boasted of the progress made at the entity under his leadership.

He said:” The ability of Liberian Scientists conducting genomic sequencing, the increase of research personnel from five to over twenty, and Liberia been named as a regional center of excellence are major step in putting the country’s Health Sector on par with other countries in the region.”

Dr. Nyan disclosed that the NPHIL has been regarded as the second most important on the continent by the Africa Center for Disease Control (Africa CDC).

The NPHIL Boss further disclosed that over two hundred thousand worth of equipment is expected in the country soon for the National Reference Lab.

Dr. Dougbeh Nyan disclosed on Monday, March 3, 2025, at his NPHIL office in Congo Town.
