Liberian Senate Summons Justice Minister Tweh, Others…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has summoned Justice Minister Oswald Tweh and relevant authorities of the United Methodist Church (UMC) to provide clarity on the alleged Same-Sex Marriage saga in the church.

The Justice Minister and relevant authorities of the Church will appear before the Senate Joint Committee on Judiciary, Internal Affairs, and Security this week.

The Senate’s decision was triggered by a communication from River Cess County Senator Wellington Geevon-Smith, who noted that Same-Sex Marriage is a crime against the state and the silence of the Justice Ministry needs investigation.

Meanwhile, the Joint Committee is expected to report to the Plenary on the matter next Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
