Mines and Energy Minister Says Liberians Were Not Meant to be Poor…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Minister of Mines and Energy, Wilmot Paye, says Liberians were not meant to be poor because of Liberia’s rich natural resource availability.

Minister Paye explained that the poverty in Liberia is man-made, noting that if God wanted Liberia and its people to be poor, he would not have placed a lot of minerals underneath for Liberians to live on them.

Minister Paye made the statement at a special worship service organized by the Liberia Diamond, Gold and Minerals Brokers Union in Monrovia on Thursday.

The Mines and Energy Minister disclosed that the Ministry will soon organize a national mineral conference to determine the future of minerals in the country.

In remarks, Omaru Sangari, Chairman of the Board of Liberia Diamond, Gold and Mineral Brokers Union, said the special service was organized for clergymen and women to pray for the success of the mineral Industry.

Mr. Sangari called for unity among members of the Union to foster progress in the sector.
