Liberia’s Agriculture Ministry Envisions Reduction in Rice Importation

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Agriculture Ministry says it envisions a reduction in the importation of rice in Liberia before 2030.

Agriculture Minister, Dr. Alexander Nuetah, said:” Fifty thousand hectares of lowland have since been projected for cultivation, to improve food security in Liberia.”

According to Minister Nuetah, out of the fifty thousand hectares, mobilization for the cultivation of six thousand five hundred hectares is currently taking place across the Country.

The agriculture minister also disclosed the ongoing bilateral talks between the Liberian government and development partners, to support food production in Liberia.

He spoke on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in an ELBC interview on the Super Morning Show.
