Education Minister Dr. Jallah Emphasizes Need for Improvement in STEM Education

MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-Education Minister Dr. Jarso Jallah, says the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in Liberia requires significant improvement.

Minister Jallah noted that such improvement will ensure that both educators and students are competitive in the evolving fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Science, and Technology.

Education Minister Dr. Jallah made the statement on Friday, February 14, 2025, in Margibi County at the end of a three-day STEM training for at least fifty teachers in the county.

The training sponsored by the European Union is aimed at equipping educators with the requisite knowledge and tools necessary to improve science and technology education in Liberia.

Minister Jarso Jallah emphasized the need to enhance the country’s STEM capacity to align with global educational standards.

Meanwhile, participants at the three-day STEM training have expressed gratitude to the Education Ministry and partners for the opportunity to enhance their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The training was particularly meaningful for female educators who have long faced barriers to accessing STEM resources.

Several teachers highlighted how the training has been instrumental in their professional growth, thus allowing them to serve as master trainers in their respective schools.

They stressed the need for continuous investment in STEM education, particularly for female students and teachers, to bridge the gender gap in science-related fields.
