VP Koung Calls for Liberia’s Culture Heritage Preservation

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President Jeremiah Koung is calling for the cultural heritage of Liberia to be strongly preserved.

President Young said:” There is a need for the preservation of Liberia’s diverse cultural heritage, which will tell the truth stories about the country and its people.”

He said through the preservation of the diverse cultural heritage, future generations can be educated about their cultural values as Liberians.

Vice President Young also praised members of the Legislature for the passage of the Tourism Act, as it will now become a focus point of government.

He further called on the government and partners to invest more in the tourism sector as it can generate huge revenue.

Vice President Young spoke Thursday, February 6, 2025, in Monrovia when he unveiled the “National Arts and Culture Gallery” at the Information Ministry.

At the same time, Liberia’s Culture Ambassador, Kekula Kamara, has disclosed the launch of the Western Region Culture Festival for the country.

Ambassador Kamara said:” The event is critical to create strategies on how to explain the Liberian Government’s ARREST Agenda FOR Inclusive Development to the citizens.”

He committed his administration’s commitment to upholding Liberia’s rich cultural heritage and ensuring that the government reaches out to the people of Liberia.

According to Ambassador Kamara, the program will be held every first Saturday in February of each year; in Gbarpolu, Bomi, and Grand Cape Mount counties, respectively.

Also speaking, Liberia’s former Culture Ambassador Julie Endee described the project as a legacy for her administration.

Madam Endee thanked colleagues at the Ministry of Information for their innovation, creativity, and passion in changing the face of the country through its culture.

She rallied citizens and officials of the government to ensure the participation of women at all levels, as the world observed World FGM Day, today.

Madam Endee encouraged stakeholders to promote, protect, and allow women to participate in activities without initiation.

The former Culture Ambassador also presented several gifts to President Joseph Boakai and Vice President Jeremiah Koung at the occasion.
