Liberia’s North Central Alliance Reacts to Congress for Democratic Change’s Claims…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The North Central Alliance (NCA), a regional citizen movement comprising Gbarpolu, Bong, Lofa, Margibi, and Nimba Counties, has reacted to claims made by the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) that the Liberian Government is weaponizing state security to suppress opposition voices in Liberia.

Recently, the CDC, in a press conference, accused the government of engaging in political prosecution, noting that any effort to arrest CDC lawmakers linked to the Capitol fire incident would provoke a collective response from the CDC.

However, in a release, the NCA said these threats from the CDC are not only unfortunate but unnationalistic and unpatriotic.

The Movement noted that the claims from the CDC suggest that the party is not in tune with the law, and its advocacy is equal to agitation for a state of lawlessness.

The NCA said the fire incident at the Capitol is in violation of the law, and every good Liberian should advocate that the law be applied and that the perpetrators of the hideous crime be brought to justice.

Meanwhile, the NCA is urging the Liberian Government to apply the laws to identify and bring perpetrators of the Capitol fire incident under its jurisdiction, void of political manipulations.
